Frequently Asked Questions

How much do your products cost?

Solatube Daylighting Systems vary in price based on the size, the addition of extension tubes and accessories, and different roof types. Tiger Wire Screens are custom jobs that require precise measurements, so costs are dependent on the size, application and type of installation you need. Lifestyle Garage Screens are made to order with a variety of size and color options.  Call us today to schedule your free estimate.

Can I install your products myself?

Installation of a Solatube Daylighting System is not rocket science. We offer DIY kits that can be purchased directly from our showroom.  However, if you hire our certified technicians to install your Solatube for you, we offer a 5-year labor warranty in addition to the 10-year manufacturer warranty.

Tiger Wire window screens are manufactured in our warehouse and you can choose our professional installation or to install them yourself.

Lifestyle Garage Screens can also be installed by any customer who chooses this option.  There are detailed instructions and videos available to assist you in installation.  Again, we can professionally install your screen for you if that is your preference.

Are Solatube Daylighting Systems maintenance free?

The Solatube Daylighting System is designed to be a sealed unit. All assemblies (dome, flashing, tubing, diffuser) have seals to stop bug and dirt infiltration.  The maintenance free design and shape of the dome and flashing eliminates debris build-up. Unlike traditional skylights, there is no open drywall shaft that requires cleaning and re-painting.

Will a Solatube make my house hot?

The short answer is no.  The heat transfer is so low with Solatube products that it is unnoticeable.  Solatube’s Spectralight Infinity Tubing transmits the visible spectrum of light (400-760 nanometers), but provides significant blockage of Infrared (IR) wavelengths greater than 900nm, which is the main culprit in solar heat gain.  As a result, the Solar Heat Gain Coefficient is greatly reduced.  This technology allows Solatube Daylighting Systems to provide the highest light output performance with minimal thermal impact.

Will my new screens be damaged by my pet?

Tiger Wire mesh cannot be cut with a razor knife like regular insect screen. Therefore, it will not rip or tear from sharp objects like your pet’s nails.  The mesh is locked into the frame using a lock bar and a special technique that keeps it secured into the frame.  Even with pets or kids continually jumping or pushing against it, it will not come loose from the frame.  In contrast, regular insect screen or even “pet-resistant” screen is only held in place with a vinyl rope and will not stay in the frame indefinitely.

How many Solar Attic Fans do I need?

We would be happy to offer you a free in-home consultation to assess your ventilation needs. On average, a 1600 square foot home with an average roof pitch will require two RM 1200 models or one RM 1600 model.  Call us today to schedule your free consultation.

What are the seasonal benefits of a Solar Attic Fan?

Solar Attic fans are beneficial in the hot summer and in the cold winter. In the summer, solar-powered attic fans drive out damaging heat, helping to keep your home cooler and make less work for your air conditioning unit.  In the winter months, the fans drive out excess humidity that can be harmful to the insulation, framing materials and internal structures sensitive to mold and fungus growth.

Do the Solar Attic Fans make noise?

Solar Star Attic Fans use no electricity to effectively ventilate your attic with a high-performance motor that is whisper quiet.
